As a rough illustration only: if the surcharge worked out near Re1 per unit and you consumed 300 units in a month, that would add somewhere around Rs300 before taxes. A household using 500 units would see a larger addition, and a lifeline user far less. How to check the exact impact on your bill
You do not need an account or any fee to see your latest bill and the charges on it. All you need is your 14-digit reference number.
- Keep an old bill handy and find the 14-digit reference number (also called Consumer Number) printed near the top.
- Go to the eBill Pakistan homepage and choose your distribution company, for example the LESCO bill check page.
- Enter your reference number and view the latest bill.
- Open the charges section and look for the surcharge or adjustment line, then compare the amount payable with last month.
- Download or print the bill if you need a copy for your records.
This lets you see the real rupee difference for your own connection instead of relying on a headline figure.
How to keep your August bill down
You cannot opt out of an approved surcharge, but you can reduce the units it is applied to. Small changes add up: run air conditioning at a slightly higher temperature, switch to efficient fans and lights, and avoid pushing into a higher slab in the last days of the billing cycle.
