If your Azad Kashmir electricity bill seems high, it helps to understand how the per-unit price works. AJK power is supplied and billed through the AJK Electricity Department (via the PITC billing system), and its tariff is set separately — it is not always identical to the NEPRA uniform schedule used by mainland DISCOs such as LESCO or MEPCO.
How the slab system works
Like the rest of Pakistan, AJK domestic bills use a slab system: the per-unit rate steps up as your monthly units cross thresholds (100, 200, 300 and beyond), and the higher rate applies to the units in the upper slab. Lower-usage "protected" and "lifeline" consumers pay less per unit than higher-usage "unprotected" ones.
