The MEPCO bill page is published at bill.pitc.com.pk/mepcobill, run by PITC. You enter the reference number or customer ID from an old paper bill, and the current bill appears for you to view or print. If your autumn 2026 bill is higher than you expected, two per-unit adjustments set by NEPRA are the usual reason: a monthly fuel cost adjustment and a quarterly adjustment.
You can also use our MEPCO bill checker, which takes the same reference number.
Who MEPCO serves
MEPCO is the electricity distribution company for southern Punjab. A July 2024 Bol News report lists 13 districts in its area:
- Multan
- Muzaffargarh
- Layyah
- D.G. Khan
- Rajanpur
- Lodhran
- Bahawalpur
- R.Y. Khan
- Khanewal
- Sahiwal
- Pakpattan
- Vehari
- Bahawalnagar
The same report describes the area as mostly rural, with mostly domestic customers and many lifeline customers. That list is from 2024, so if your district is on a boundary, check the company's own website, which is listed as mepco.com.pk.
If your bill comes from a different company, the process on this page will not work for you. The company name is printed at the top of every bill.
The real page, and the copies to avoid
Search for "MEPCO bill" and most of the first results are not MEPCO or PITC at all. They are lookalike sites with addresses such as:
- mepco.pk
- mepco-bill.pk
- mepco-billcheck.pk
- mepcoonlinebills.com.pk
- mepco-online.com.pk
- billpitc.com.pk
The last one deserves a closer look. It calls itself "official", and its address looks almost identical to the real one. But billpitc.com.pk is a different domain from bill.pitc.com.pk. The real address has a full stop between "bill" and "pitc". That one character is the difference between the official page and a copy.
How to tell you are on the official page
- Look at the address bar, not the page title or logo. Copies often reuse MEPCO's name and colours.
- The address should read bill.pitc.com.pk followed by /mepcobill.
- The part just before the first single slash should end in pitc.com.pk. Anything else, such as billpitc.com.pk or mepco-bill.pk, is not PITC.
- The other official address for the company itself is listed as mepco.com.pk.
Lookalike sites are not just a nuisance. Some carry advertising, some show out-of-date bills, and some push fake subsidy or QR-code offers. Our guide to spotting fake bill and subsidy links explains the warning signs. Do not enter anything beyond your reference number on any bill page, and never enter bank or card details on a site you reached from a search result or a forwarded message.
Which number to enter
The official page accepts either your reference number or your customer ID. Both are printed on your paper bill.
Type it exactly as it appears on the bill. If the page rejects it, the most common causes are a missing digit, an extra space, or confusing the reference number with another number on the bill, such as the meter number.
The exact position of the reference number varies with the bill layout. Our guide on where to find the reference number shows it on a sample bill. If you have no old bill to hand, a family member's photo of last month's bill will do, as long as it is for the same connection.
How to check your MEPCO bill online
- Open your browser and type bill.pitc.com.pk/mepcobill directly into the address bar, rather than clicking a search result.
- Confirm the address bar shows pitc.com.pk.
- Enter your reference number or customer ID exactly as printed on an old bill. The page may label the field slightly differently from this guide; use whichever field asks for the reference number or customer ID.
- Submit, and the current bill should appear.
- Check the name, address and billing month at the top to make sure it is your connection and this month's bill.
- Use your browser's print option to print it or save it as a PDF if you need a copy for payment or a complaint.
The address above comes from published reports. If it no longer loads or looks different, go to MEPCO's own website and follow its link to the bill, rather than searching for an alternative.
Reading what you see
Once the bill is open, the lines that explain most month-to-month changes are the fuel adjustment and the quarterly adjustment. These are charged per unit, so they rise with your consumption. If the layout is unfamiliar, our guide to the new 2026 bill layout walks through each section.
Why your autumn 2026 bill is higher
MEPCO bills, like those of other ex-WAPDA companies and K-Electric, carry adjustments that NEPRA approves on top of the base tariff. For context, NEPRA set the national average base tariff for calendar year 2026 at Rs 33.38 per unit, down from Rs 34.00, with separate rates for each company. The adjustments below are added to whatever rate applies to you.
The fuel cost adjustment
The fuel cost adjustment reflects the difference between the fuel cost assumed in the tariff and the actual cost in a given month. It appears on bills two months later.
- September 2026 bills carried Rs 2.0581 per unit for July, widely reported as Rs 2.06.
- October 2026 bills carried Rs 1.1086 per unit for August. CPPA-G, the government power buyer, had asked for Rs 1.73; NEPRA approved less.
NEPRA's notification for the August adjustment excluded three groups:
- lifeline consumers
- EV charging stations
- prepaid consumers who chose the prepaid tariff
If you are a lifeline consumer, the Rs 1.1086 fuel charge should not have been on your October bill. If you see it, compare your bill with the notified rules and raise it with MEPCO.
The quarterly adjustment
The quarterly adjustment covers other cost differences over a three-month period. For April to June 2026, NEPRA approved Re 0.5194 per unit, totalling about Rs 12.669 billion, charged on September, October and November 2026 bills. This means November is the last month it appears.
The adjustments by billing month
| Billing month | Fuel adjustment (per unit) | Quarterly adjustment (per unit) |
|---|---|---|
| September 2026 | Rs 2.0581 (for July) | Re 0.5194 |
| October 2026 | Rs 1.1086 (for August) | Re 0.5194 |
| November 2026 | For September: NEPRA decision pending as of 30 October 2026 | Re 0.5194 (final month) |
What this means in rupees
Because both adjustments are per unit, you can estimate them yourself. On an October bill for 200 units:
- fuel adjustment: 200 × Rs 1.1086 = Rs 221.72
- quarterly adjustment: 200 × Re 0.5194 = Rs 103.88
That is Rs 325.60 from the two adjustments alone. Your own bill may show a slightly different figure depending on how the lines are calculated and whether other charges are applied, so treat the printed bill as the final word.
What about the November bill
The fuel adjustment for September is still being decided. NEPRA held a hearing on the proposal and, as of the end of October 2026, had not announced its decision. Until it does, nobody can say for certain what amount will appear or on which month's bill. Our article on the November 2026 fuel charge is updated when NEPRA rules, and this month's adjustments lists the figures in force along with past months.
What is settled is that the Re 0.5194 quarterly adjustment remains on November bills and then drops off.
Contact details and complaints
This guide does not list a MEPCO helpline, SMS service, WhatsApp number or complaint portal. Numbers for all of these circulate on lookalike sites, but we could not confirm any of them from MEPCO or PITC. Use only the contact details printed on your own bill or published on mepco.com.pk.
If you think the bill is wrong, start with the basics: check the billing month, compare the units with the previous reading, and check whether an adjustment has been applied that should not have been, such as a fuel charge on a lifeline connection. Keep a printed or saved copy of the bill from the official page before you raise it.
What to do next
- Type bill.pitc.com.pk/mepcobill into your address bar and confirm it shows pitc.com.pk before entering anything.
- Enter the reference number or customer ID exactly as it appears on an old bill, and save a PDF copy of the result.
- Find the fuel adjustment and quarterly adjustment lines and multiply each rate by your units to check them.
- If you are a lifeline consumer, confirm the October fuel charge was not added.
- Check back after NEPRA decides on the September fuel adjustment to see what your next bill will carry.
- Ignore any site or message offering MEPCO subsidies, discounts or payment links from an address other than pitc.com.pk or mepco.com.pk.
